Beastly Backdrops

Beastly Backdrops are a collection of versatile cloth mats printed with crisp detail, vivid color, and a matte surface. They are specially designed for tabletop miniature wargames and role-playing games, and can also be used for kids’ play surfaces, backdrops, dioramas, model railroads, wall art, and more. The attractive and realistic designs you see are permanently sublimation-printed onto a machine-washable beefy-soft fabric. Most of the mats in this series are designed for compatibility with scales from 28mm – 36mm. Some are offered in a large Tournament size ( 60″ x 80″ / 154cm x 203cm ) and some also feature a smaller Skirmish size ( 50″ x 60″ / 127cm x 154cm ).

For wargames, the extra size means that it covers your table even if you place objects underneath for hills, and the fabric drapes over any added topography.  Beastly Backdrops can’t be beat for portability and storage. Fold them, roll them, wad them up, stuff them into a bag …you just don’t have to worry about creases, dirt, or damage with this fabric. It’s extra durable and wrinkle-resistant with hemmed edges, and is even machine washable.

Designs of every type are available or coming soon, for everything from fantasy and sci-fi to famous historical battlefields. Some mats will be available at different scales, taking into account the common scales for the games each battlefield might be suited for. Some designs will be intended for small-scale naval or aerial battles. Some will have hexes and grids as an option, depending on the game type and whether you want absolute immersive realism or convenient game mechanics.

You don’t have to choose from a small selection of war-zones and environments… we are also “for hire” to create a custom commissioned design that becomes available for print by you and everyone. Just let us know what you have in mind, and your custom battlefield can be created for a one-time art fee, and then added to the available print offerings. Because we retain the rights to images we create, and it becomes a part of our library, the cost to create the mat you’ve been looking for might be less than you expect.
