Transport and Storage Tips

Canvas mats aren’t nearly as crease-sensitive as a vinyl/pvc mat, but I know a lot of you like to be cautious. A helpful way to store and move your mats is to roll them around a length of pvc pipe from the hardware store to completely prevent them from flopping around or bending. I always roll them with the colored/textured side to the outside. Otherwise, the ends might want to curl up instead of down against the table. You can also keep the plastic sleeve your map shipped inside for storage, to minimize exposure to dust or dank basements.

  1. Hi Peter,
Most of the mats average around 4lbs and ship rolled in a long tube box, so postage on those is usually around $65 to the UK. The grass mats are a little lighter and can ship folded up, so those are a little cheaper to mail. Since everything is customizable and made to order, we don’t currently have any pre-made inventory for any resellers in other locations.

  2. These mats look very good. Are the mats printed on the canvas? Or, do you apply/glue texture materials onto the canvas? Are the surf (ocean) mats printed or is there a layer of material to provide the wave texture on the canvas? Thanks!

    1. Hi Curtis,
None of the Terrain Mat styles are printed. The surface is built up on the canvas backing with hand-applied materials, so everything has a 3D texture. The grass mats are based on a faux-fur fabric rather than canvas, but add-on special features are built the same way for all (ocean mats have a 3D wave texture too).
