About
As a lifelong artist inspired by films, books, games, and music, my interests always followed along the imaginary and fantastic pathways that sparked my creativity and sense of wonder. Drawing my favorites from comic books and monster movies led me to Ray Harryhausen’s stop-motion fantasy epics and then to Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and of course Dungeons & Dragons, RPGs, and wargames. I also suspect that my early fascination with model railways, action figures, and plastic Revell kits carried straight over to gaming and miniatures, and building realistic environments in which all of those little wizards, monsters, spacemen, and soldiers could happily live and beat the crap out of each other.
I earned a degree in studio art through coursework in drawing, painting, sculpture and photography, and have done paid or published work in graphic design for print, web, and games, 3D modeling and animation for games and short film projects, map and level design with a dash of programming, illustration for book and CD covers, and a bit of writing. I could also irrelevantly mention my long tangent in songwriting, recording, and performing in the DIY world of punk and alt-rock.
Creating my unique terrain mats brings together so many of my personal passions, it honestly never quite feels like work. I only hope you’ll have as much fun gaming on your mats as I have building them.
